AboutBooking a Talk / Terms & FAQs

IMMA connects audiences and art, providing an extraordinary space where contemporary life and contemporary art connect, challenge and inspire one another. We share, develop and conserve the Irish National Collection of Modern and Contemporary Art for now and for the future.

Booking a Talk / Terms & FAQs

  • Booking is essential for all talks and lectures which are free and open to the public, unless otherwise specified.
  • To ensure entry into IMMA Talks please present a print out of your ticket or save your ticket to your device to present on entry. If you have booked more than one ticket you will receive multiple pdf’s from our ticket system – one for each attendee. Please print/present a separate ticket for each attendee.
  • Please note that if you arrive later than the listed start time of the event we cannot guarantee entry.  Latecomers may be treated as ‘no shows’ and their seats reallocated to the waiting list.
  • You will receive a confirmation email with a link to download your tickets. Please note this email is not a ticket, you must download your tickets from the link provided.
  • We may also contact you to remind you of your booking, or if any changes are made to the listed details for venue, start time or other substantial details.
  • To cancel a booking please email a notification to [email protected] Emails to this address are checked between 9.30am and 11am Tuesday – Saturday.
  • Priority booking is given to IMMA members up to 48 hours before the event start time. Otherwise all tickets are allocated on a first booked basis.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I book my seat?
Advance booking is essential for all events unless otherwise stated. Bookings are to be made online through the IMMA website. You can browse upcoming events in our What’s On section, or visit the IMMA Talks page for a complete listing of upcoming and past talks.

You will find a ‘Get Tickets’ link on the relevant event page of your chosen talk or lecture. Clicking this will bring you through to our booking platform. You should follow the prompts on screen to select your ticket(s) and add your name, email and other relevant information to process your booking.

How do I know my booking has been successful?
You will see an indication on screen that your booking has completed successfully. You will also receive an automated ticket email to confirm your booking from [email protected]. This email will contain a link to download your tickets. Please bring a print out of your ticket(s) to the event to present on the door, or show the tickets on your mobile device, to guarantee entry.

What if I don’t receive the confirmation email?
Please note that the ticket confirmation email can sometimes end up in your junk or spam folder, or your ‘promotional’ folder on gmail. Please check these folders if the email hasn’t arrived. If you book talks regularly please add the email [email protected] to your address or contact book or your safe senders list to ensure delivery of these ticket confirmations in the future.

Can I still get in if I am running late?
Late comers (5mins+ after start time) are not guaranteed entry and may find their seat reissued to standbys. Every effort will be made to accommodate you but there may be standing room only.

Is there a fee?
The vast majority of IMMA’s Talk and Events are free unless otherwise stated.

Is there a deadline to book?
IMMA’s online booking system remains open up to one hour prior to the start time of the live event, unless the event is booked out. Priority booking and Priority seats are offered to IMMA Members up to 48 hours before the event.

Does IMMA operate a waiting listing for booked out events?
No, we do not operate a waiting list on free events. Unoccupied seats are allocated on the door on a first come first served basis. If you are arriving without a ticket it is advisable to come earlier then the start time to register your name at the door. Please note arriving without a ticket is at your discretion. There may not be any availability on the night, or if there is it may be restricted to standing room only.

How do I change or cancel my booking?
Many of our Talks and Events book out in advance and we cannot meet demand. If you discover you can no longer attend an event we would ask that you release your ticket so that someone else may enjoy the event in your place.

Please support IMMA in reissuing unused tickets by notifying us at [email protected] Emails to this address are checked between 9.30am and 11am Tuesday – Saturday. Your consideration for others is greatly appreciated.

Is my ticket transferable?
Yes. You can give your ticket(s) to a friend if you cannot attend. There is no need to change the name on the booking, but please note tickets may be scanned on entry so each ticket will only allow a single entry.

Will I be notified of a change of date/time of an event?
Yes. If there are any changes to the date or time of the event in question you will be notified via the email address you have provided at the time of booking.

Date and Time changes are also made to our website and are regularly broadcast on our Facebook and Twitter accounts.

How will I find the location of the event on arrival at IMMA?
Signage will be in place to direct you on arrival. Click here for a site plan. Please note that occasionally the room may change closer to the time of the event. Any changes will be emailed you in advance, signalled on the website and clearly marked on signage when you arrive on site.
