IMMA holds the National Collection of Modern and Contemporary Art, collecting artworks and related archival material from the 20th century to the present moment. Its remit is to reflect key developments in contemporary visual culture, and to keep them in the public domain for future generations. IMMA collects Painting, Drawing (in diverse forms), Sculpture, Installation, Performance, Photography, Time-Based-Media, Digital Media, Textile, Prints, printed matter and archival material relating to artworks in the Collection and connected to IMMA’s programming history.
Artwork is acquired in line with our Acquisition Policy. The Collection has grown significantly over the past five years thanks to funding from public and private sources, as well as donations and bequests.
