The Role

IMMA is home to Ireland’s National Collection of Modern and Contemporary Art, with over 3,500 artworks by Irish and international artists. The Collection is firmly rooted in the present and important contemporary works are added each year. A significant portion of these works, approximately 120, fall within the category of time-based media, and involve artworks involving video, sound, slide and film, software, digital source files, performance.

Since 2018 IMMA has been implementing new procedures and infrastructure to support the long-term care and display of its TBM Collection; this includes a viewing and condition assessment workstation and improved and centralised digital storage.

The Heritage Council’s Annual Conservation Internship Programme offers a Time-Based Media Conservation Internship opportunity for a period of 12 months. The successful intern will support the IMMA Collection team in their ongoing efforts to advance conservation practices around IMMA’s time-based media (TBM) artwork holdings and will develop and broaden the intern’s knowledge and experience.

Cuspóir an Róil:

Tá Bailiúchán Náisiúnta Nua-Ealaíne agus Ealaíne Comhaimseartha na hÉireann lonnaithe in IMMA, agus tá breis agus 3,500 saothar ealaíne ann le healaíontóirí Éireannacha agus idirnáisiúnta. Tá an bailiúcháin fréamhaithe go láidir san am i láthair agus cuirtear saothair thábhachtacha nua leis an mbailiúchán gach bliain. Tagann cuid shuntasach de na saothair sin, thart ar 120 ceann acu, laistigh de chatagóir na meán ambhunaithe, agus baineann siad le saothair ealaíne, lena mbaineann físeáin, fuaim, sleamhnáin agus scannáin, bogearraí, comhaid foinse digití, léiriú.

Ó 2018 i leith, tá gnáthaimh agus bonneagar nua á gcur chun feidhme ag an IMMA chun tacú le cúram fadtéarmach agus taispeáint a bhailiúcháin TBM; áirítear leis sin stáisiún oibre measúnachta féachana agus reachta agus stóráil dhigiteach fheabhsaithe agus láraithe.

Cuireann an Clár Bliantúil Intéirneachta i gCaomhnú de chuid na Comhairle Oidhreachta deis intéirneachta i gCaomhnú Meán Ambhunaithe ar fáil ar feadh tréimhse 12 mhí. Tacóidh an t-intéirneach rathúil le foireann Bhailiúchán IMMA ina n-iarrachtaí leanúnacha cleachtais um chaomhnú a chur chun cinn maidir le stoic ealaíne meán ambhunaithe (TBM) IMMA agus forbróidh agus leathnóidh sé nó sí eolas agus taithí an intéirnigh.
