The IMMA Reading Group provides an opportunity to look more closely or ‘read into’ aspects of IMMA’s programmes. Each year the Reading Group focuses on a different theme related to IMMA’s programme and is led by an invited facilitator. The Reading Group meets approximately once a month over a number of months and is open to anyone with an interest in the chosen theme. The facilitator and, on occasion, the participants identify articles which are read by the group in advance and discussed when the group meets.
Participation in the IMMA Reading Group is free and open to the public but registration is necessary and a commitment to attend all sessions and to read the assigned material in advance of each session is essential. Places are allocated on a first-come/first-served basis unless otherwise specified.
The current IMMA reading group The Construction of Racial Essentialism: Intersections of Racial, Gender, Sexual and National Identities begins in March 2021.
