French photographer Marc Riboud trained and worked as an engineer before turning to photography. His first published photograph appeared in 'Life' magazine in 1953. He was then invited to join the Magnum agency by Henri Cartier-Bresson and Robert Capa. Riboud served as President of Magnum between 1976 and 1979. He has received many awards and exhibited worldwide, including a major retrospective at the Maison Européenne de la Photographie, Paris, in 2004.
