French photographer Marc Riboud (born 1923) was born in Lyon and worked as an engineer before leaving his job to become a photographer. In 1953, his work was published in 'Life' magazine and he joined the Magnum agency after meeting Henri Cartier-Bresson and Robert Capa. Riboud was President of Magnum from 1976 until 1979.He has photographed and exhibited all over the world and his 2004 retrospective at the Maison Européenne de la Photographie in Paris was visited by 100,000 people. Riboud has received many awards including the International Centre of Photography Infinity Award and has twice won the Overseas Press Club Award.
