Born in Italy, Concetto Pozzati, moved to Bologna in 1949 and attended the local Art Institute. In 1955, he studied advertising in Paris at the atelier of his uncle, the advertising illustrator known as ‘Sepo’. They founded a School of Art Advertising together in Bologna in 1960. Pozzati also taught graphic design at the Art Institute of Bologna and at the Academy of Fine Arts, Urbino, where he served as director until 1973. He participated in the Venice Biennales of 1964, 1972 and 1982.
