IMMA is excited to take part in Winter in Dublin, a city wide programme of culture, food and seasonal experiences over the winter months. Join us for a seasonal programme of art and activities for audiences of all ages. Our programme kicks off from November with festive Explorer family art workshops; Jewellery making workshops with Shock of Gray; and a joyful performance by the African Gospel Choir Dublin.

Our January and February programme provides an opportunity for you to reset. Join us for restorative yoga and movement sessions in the peaceful Chapel, join a Slow Art Tour spending time looking closely at one artwork. We are also excited to offer new Meditation in the gallery sessions where you can experience an art exhibition in an embodied, mindful and immersive way outside of regular opening hours.

REWORKED: A Zero-Waste Jewellery Workshop with Shock of Grey

Saturday 14 Nov, 11am – 1pm – Book Workshop
Thursday 19 Nov, 6 – 8pm – Book Workshop
Saturday 21 Nov, 11am – 1pm – Book Workshop
Saturday 12 Dec, 11am – 1pm – Book Workshop

Price: €42.78 per person, includes booking fee. Suitable for ages 12+
Location: Matheson Creativity Hub

Create one-of-a-kind jewellery from vintage finds, preloved beads and forgotten treasures in this colourful, hands-on workshop with Shock of Grey. REWORKED is one of Shock of Grey’s most popular workshops and has been enjoyed by participants at Electric Picnic, Earth Rising and Wolf & Badger in London.

Explore a treasure trove of vintage and preloved beads, broken jewellery, chains, charms and reclaimed materials, then mix, match and reimagine them to create something completely your own. You’ll learn simple techniques for taking jewellery apart, combining unexpected materials and transforming unwanted pieces into something new and wearable.

Bring along old, broken or forgotten jewellery from home and give it a new life, or choose from the colourful collection of materials provided, sourced from charity shops and donations.

REWORKED is a playful introduction to creative reuse and zero-waste design, encouraging experimentation rather than perfection. No previous jewellery-making experience is needed — just curiosity and a willingness to get creative.

Suitable for ages 12+. No soldering is involved. Glue, jewellery-making tools, findings and materials will be supplied.

IMMA presents the African Gospel Choir Dublin for the third year. Join us for an afternoon of music as part of the Winter in Dublin programme. Founded in 2008 by Adeniyi Allen-Taylor, the ensemble blends elements of African gospel, Negro spirituals, acapella, and American popular music.

The African Gospel Choir’s love of music and joy for life illuminates through their music; they are known to delight audiences with a repertoire sung in English and their native languages. The choir showcases and helps develop the talents of young African singers in Ireland, while also presenting to the world the richness in the voice and melody of an all-African choir. Their main goal is to inspire and influence people positively and to promote gospel music through African culture.

Slow Art encourages us to slow down and delve deeper by spending time looking closely at one artwork, or a small selection of work. By giving ourselves time, we can make meaningful connections with art, often discovering new ways of looking at the world and prompting interesting questions. Slow Art Sessions invite you to take a close look at artworks from IMMA’s Collection and Exhibition Programme in free, welcoming, conversational tours.  All welcome.

Meditation in the Gallery
14, 21 & 28 Jan

Thursdays, 6 – 7pm, Free
14, 21 and 28 January
Booking required – Book here
Location: IMMA Galleries

These one-hour sessions offer a unique opportunity to experience an art exhibition in an embodied, mindful and immersive way. Taking place outside of regular opening hours, participants are invited to explore the gallery at a slower pace, free from the usual conventions of art viewing, and discover the restorative potential of art in a supportive and welcoming environment.

Guided by an experienced facilitator, each session begins with an introduction to the surrounding artworks, providing a context for a series of gentle movement explorations, sensory awareness exercises, mindfulness practices and somatic techniques. Together, these practices create space to tune into the body and mind, release tension and cultivate a deeper sense of rest and connection.

Participants will also receive a take-home toolkit of simple somatic resources to support nervous system regulation and wellbeing. Themes explored throughout the programme include Disarming and Decolonising the Body-Mind, Embodying Peace: The Legend of the Shambhala Warrior, and Collective Body: Interconnectedness, Oxytocin and Co-Regulation.

You are welcome to join us for the full set of three workshops or for part of the course. No previous experience of somatic movement or mindfulness needed. Please wear comfortable clothes to allow for ease of movement.
