Brigid Mc Clean, from our Visitor Engagement Team, invites you to join her for a series of eco-friendly, outdoor weaving workshops in the grounds of IMMA. Brigid has devised a simple loom made from willow sticks and earth.
In our first workshop, titled Down to Earth, Brigid will talk about the warp and the weft and the basic principles of weaving. Participants will be supplied with a pack of vibrant ribbon yarn to create a beautiful wall hanging.
During our second workshop on 18 June, titled Old School, New Twist, we will use Hessian bags sourced from a local coffee roaster, needles made from willow sticks and yarn.
The final workshop on 25 June will be a joyful mix of the two previous workshops!
Appropriate footwear and clothing are recommended as this will take place outdoors. Due to current regulations on social distancing, places are limited to 12, so book early to avoid disappointment. Book your free place here.
