The Big Bang Festival of Rhythm is Ireland’s longest running intercultural festival (est. 1994). Every summer, the Big Bang Festival brings the best rhythm makers in the world to Dublin. On Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 of August, there will be free workshops and performances from the finest Palestinian and Ghanaian percussionists and dancers and a beginner’s workshop on the Irish bodhran.

Workshops and performances are given by The Kakatsitsi Master Drummers from Ghana, a group of singers, drummers and dancers from the Ga tribe of Southern Ghana. They will perform unplugged on both days, as well as leading workshops in West African drumming, song and dance. The El-Funoun Palestinian Popular Dance Troupe repertoire comprises of Palestinian folk dance, called “Dabke” and other choreography from El-Funoun’s own unique vision of Palestinian dance. They will give a brief demonstration/performance, before leading a workshop open to dancers of all abilities.
