Join Christina Kennedy, Senior Curator, Head of Collections at IMMA, for a gallery talk and walk-through of the exhibition, IMMA Collection, Art As Agency. This substantial display of works selected from IMMA’s Permanent Collection, showcases over 100 artists from the 1960s to the present. Discover the evolving connections between past and present, and how key artworks from the collection continues to challenge norms and tackle global themes like gender, de-colonialism, climate change and hybridity.
This talk introduces the evolving history of IMMA’s Collection and takes a closer look at some of the highlights in the galleries, that includes a ‘white cube’ gallery space, inspired by Brian O’Doherty’s critique of the gallery, to works by Post-War American women, Marcel Duchamp, Andrea Geyer and major installations by Daphne Wright, Alice Maher, Siobhan Hapaska, Joan Jonas and many others.
