The IMMA Collection is a unique resource which is made available to the public through a vibrant programme of temporary exhibitions and projects. Collection Exhibitions may explore the work of an individual artist, or address a theme or historic period.
Join us for a tour of the magnificent formal gardens followed by a drawing and watercolour workshop en plein air. The morning begins with a walking tour of the gardens, led by Mary Condon (Head Gardener, OPW) who will point out a wonderful variety of flora in full summer bloom. You can also hear about the history of the gardens and the magnificent architecture.
Sandra and Trish from our Visitor Engagement Team will guide you through a selection of art from the outdoor sculptures, both ancient and modern, and will tell you about the birds and butterflies who visit the formal gardens. You can read Sandra’s biodiversity series of articles in our Magazine.
The tour will be followed by a watercolour workshop in response to nature. You will be encouraged to try an intuitive exploration of colour and shape, or a study from observation. Please bring your own art materials to use at the workshop, materials will only be provided if necessary. We look forward to seeing you at IMMA.
