IMMA is pleased to present Anthology of Anger: Chapter One by Alexis Blake, as part of the exhibition A Vague Anxiety.
Anthology of Anger is on ongoing project by Blake, exploring how culture, history and DNA influence one’s expression or suppression of anger and empathy, verses the body’s authentic movements of these emotions.
For the iteration of the project at IMMA, Blake will perform alongside two dancers, incorporating research and methodologies drawn from disparate sources of the scripted body language of anger, while bringing forward their own bodies’ archives. In addition, the work samples from and applies therapeutic processing of emotions through the body, such as: Dance Movement Therapy, Authentic Movement and TRE (Tension and Trauma Release Exercises). The sound track of the work is created using only the voice.
Anthology of Anger at IMMA is curated by Poi Marr: Curator, Glasgow International and appears as part of A Vague Anxiety, curated by Seán Kissane, Curator: Exhibitions, IMMA.
Admission free. Drop-in. No booking required.
