Residency ProgrammeOverview

IMMA's residency provides opportunities for national and international artists, curators, critical writers and art professionals to research and develop their practices onsite at the Museum.

Overview

The IMMA residency programme is housed and mentored onsite at IMMA, presenting a symbiotic relationship with the museum and its activities.

Our onsite residencies support the development of contemporary visual art practices, research and dialogue. It supports both emerging and established practitioners, working in a variety of formats, and is programmed through open and invited strands of programming.

IMMA’s Collection, Exhibitions and Engagement & Learning Programmes, fellow residents, the historical location at The Royal Hospital Kilmainham and IMMA’s proximity to the vibrant cultural city of Dublin, all provide a dynamic starting point for participants to explore studio practices and new avenues of visual arts research.

We also work with The Dean Art Studios. The Dean Art Studios is a new, multi-disciplinary hub located in the former Conservatory of Music on Chatham Row in Dublin City Centre.

Alert

We would like to advise our visitors that our Main Reception area is closed for renovation from 22 April until mid-June.  A temporary reception is open on the ground floor next to the original main entrance. While we prepare to open our next exhibition Hilary Heron: A Retrospective on 24 May, there are two exhibitions to see Derry Film & Video Workshop and Self: Determination: Artists Commissions. IMMA’s gardens and café are open to the public.
