About the Artist

T.P. Flanagan 1929–2011

Northern Irish painter T.P. Flanagan attended the Belfast College of Art. Inspired by the topography of Fermanagh, Sligo and Donegal, Flanagan developed a body of paintings which he exhibited extensively from the late 1950s. Flanagan was a member of the Visual Arts Advisory Committee of Northern Ireland and was elected an academician of the Royal Ulster Academy in 1964. Major retrospectives of his work were organised by the Arts Council of Northern Ireland in 1977, and the Ulster Museum in 1995.
