Northern Irish painter T.P. Flanagan attended the Belfast College of Art. Inspired by the topography of Fermanagh, Sligo and Donegal, Flanagan developed a distinctive body of landscape paintings which he exhibited extensively from the late 1950s. Flanagan served a member of the Visual Arts Advisory Committee of Northern Ireland for over 20 years and was elected an academician of the Royal Ulster Academy in 1964. Major retrospectives of his work were organised by the Arts Council of Northern Ireland in 1977 and by the Ulster Museum in 1995.
