British photographer Martin Parr (born 1952) studied photography at Manchester Polytechnic. In 1994 he became a full member of Magnum Photographic Corporation. Parr was appointed Professor of Photography at the University of Wales Newport in 2004 and the same year was Guest Artistic Director for Rencontres D’Arles. He has received numerous awards including the Erich Salomon Prize in 2006 and the Baume et Mercier Award in 2008. Parr was guest curator at the 2008 New York Photo Festival and in 2010 he was curator of Brighton Photo Biennial. He has published over 70 books and his work is represented in major public collections worldwide including MoMA, New York; Tate Modern; SFMOMA and the Metropolitan Museum of Photography
