Northern Irish artist Clement McAleer studied Fine Art at Canterbury College of Art and the Royal College of Art, London. In 1981 he received a major award from the Arts Council of Northern Ireland and the same year completed a mural commission for the Royal Liverpool Hospital. He was elected as an Associate of the Royal Ulster Academy in 2006. McAleer has exhibited extensively and his work is represented in numerous public and private collections including the Ulster Museum, Belfast; the Arts Councils of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and the European Parliament, Brussels.
