About the Artist

Daniel O’Neill 1920–1974

Belfast born painter Dan O'Neill briefly attended life drawing classes at the Belfast College of Art. From the 1940s he exhibited at the Victor Waddington Gallery, Dublin. In the early 1950s, O'Neill moved to an artist’s colony in Conlig, County Down and worked closely with painters George Campbell and Gerard Dillon. In 1970, he exhibited in George McClelland’s Belfast gallery. His work is held in national collections including that of the Ulster Museum and Dublin City Gallery, The Hugh Lane.
