German artist Ulla von Brandenburg works in film, painting, installation, photography and performance. Drawing on a background in set design, her diverse practice is inspired by a wide range of elements including nineteenth century literature, expressionist theatre, Hollywood, chess, magic, and pre-Freudian psychoanalysis. Brandenburg has exhibited extensively in Europe and the US. The first major exhibition of her work in Ireland took place at IMMA in 2008.
