Irish painter Seán Shanahan was educated in London and Madrid. He moved to Northern Italy in the late 1980s. Shanahan’s abstract paintings, on natural woods, fibreboard, and polished and sanded steel, create a formal balance of vertical and horizontal elements. Shanahan has exhibited widely including solo exhibitions at Dublin City Gallery The Hugh Lane; Fondazione Scarampi, Italy and the Sleer Gallery, Edinburgh. His work is featured in many public and private collections.
