Irish painter Paul Doran studied at the National College of Art and Design, Dublin. He constructs his small scale works through the application of extremely thick layers of paint which are then sliced, torn and trowelled to create a compelling fluidity and instability. Doran was awarded the AIB Art Prize in 2005. He has exhibited nationally and internationally including solo exhibitions in the Butler Gallery, Kilkenny; the Green on Red Gallery, Dublin and Sunday L.E.S., New York.
