Born in Northern Ireland, Mark Francis studied painting at St. Martin's School of Art and the Chelsea School of Art. His art practice is poised between abstraction and representation. Francis’s wet-on-wet paintings and prints derive from his interest in biological and cellular forms and refer to man's internal environment or biology. His work has been shown nationally and internationally, including a solo exhibition at Dublin City Gallery The Hugh Lane in 2008. His work is represented in significant public and private collections.
To ensure the health and safety of the public, IMMA’s galleries will be closed from the evening of Friday 18 September until Saturday 10 October 2020. The grounds of IMMA and the RHK will remain open. Thank you for your cooperation.
