Born in Cuba in 1963, artist Jorge Pardo relocated to the US with his family at the age of six. He views art through the perspective of design and architecture, and makes no hierarchical distinctions between his paintings, sculptures, installations, buildings and lamps. Pardo has exhibited widely in Europe and America, including K21, Dusseldorf; Fundació La Caixa, Barcelona; the Museum of Contemporary Art, North Miami, and the Guggenheim, New York. His practice was the subject of a major solo exhibition at IMMA in 2010.
