Jorge Pardo was born in Cuba and moved to the US with his family at the age of six. Pardo views art through the perspective of design and architecture, and makes no hierarchical distinctions between his paintings, sculptures, installations, buildings and lamps. He has exhibited in Europe and America, including K21, Dusseldorf; Fundació La Caixa, Barcelona; the Museum of Contemporary Art, North Miami, and the Guggenheim, New York. A major solo exhibition of Pardo’s work was held at IMMA in 2010.
