Irish portrait painter James Hanley attended University College Dublin and the National College of Art and Design, Dublin. Painted from photographs taken in the studio, Hanley’s densely coloured representational works range from studies of friends to official portraits commissioned by institutions, organisations and the state. Hanley is represented in national public collections including the National Gallery of Ireland and The Arts Council. He is an elected member of the RHA and Aosdána.
