German artist Franz Ackermann creates paintings and installations that explore the effects of tourism, globalisation and urbanism. His practice derives from his travels to cities including Tokyo, Manila, Hanoi, Bangkok, Rome and São Paolo, and incorporates ephemera such as tickets, postcards and newspapers. Ackermann has exhibited internationally. Solo exhibitions of his work have been held at the White Cube, London; Neugerriemschneider, Berlin; Domus Artium, Salamanca, and at IMMA in 2005.
