Caoimhe Kilfeather’s work is
predominantly sculptural taking influence from an interest in the built
environment and our relationships to the spatial, formal and psychological
qualities of architecture. She is interested in legacies of forms, materials,
systems and methods of production and of how these things comprise our experiences
of the world.
The
act of engaging with materials and developing forms in an open and exploratory
way is central to her work. The work demonstrates
sensitivity to the intrinsic qualities of raw matter and Kilfeather’s
manipulation of materials, scale and weight often results in works where the
physical properties of objects and structures are obscured and hard to
define.
Kilfeather’s
most recent solo show took place in Temple Bar Gallery and was curated by Rayne
Booth; she has previously shown in the Irish Museum of Modern Art in the group
exhibition, In The Line of Beauty curated by Rachael
Thomas and is currently showing work in the Collection exhibition Fragments.
