English painter, sculptor and curator Avis Newman began exhibiting in London in the early 1980s. She has since exhibited worldwide including at the Saatchi Gallery, London, The Drawing Centre, New York, and the Museum of Contemporary Art, Sydney. Her work is held in numerous collections including that of Tate Collection, London, and the Collection of Modern and Contemporary Art, Lisbon. She is Professor at Wimbledon School of Art and Lecturer at the Rijks Academy, Amsterdam.
