The basis of Amanda Coogan’s practice is the live event, followed directly by photography and video, either taken from the live performance or produced in and around an action. Her art communicates through the body and it often deals with the concept of ‘otherness’ or not belonging and the outward expression of the subconscious.
Coogan has performed and exhibited her work extensively including The Venice Biennale; Liverpool Biennial; PS1, New York; Galeria Safia, Barcelona; IMMA, Dublin; Royal Hibernian Academy, Dublin; Van Gogh Museum, Amsterdam; Centre Culturel Irlandais, Paris and the Hugh Lane Gallery, Dublin. Coogan’s practice is represented by the Kevin Kavanagh Gallery, Dublin.
This is a production residency in partnership with the Royal Hibernian Academy
