Alberto Gironella was a Mexican surrealist painter and promoter of literature and the arts. He began his career as a poet and in the late 1940s and early 50s founded two literary magazines, ‘Clavileno’ and ‘Segrel’, before turning to painting. In 1960 Gironella was awarded a prize at the Paris Biennial for Young Painters.
