This exhibition of works from the IMMA Collection explores other aspects of lens-based art to those presented in the current Thomas Ruff and Willie Doherty shows.
Property, a new acquisition to the Collection by Beat Klein and Hendrikje Kühne, based on property advertisements from The Irish Times is being shown, alongside large photoworks by Hannah Starkey and Hannah Collins and recent acquisitions by Dennis Oppenheim and Ann Hamilton.
Visitors familiar with the work of Hermione Wiltshire will be fascinated by her witty installation of a group of historic, erotic drawings by the Italian Renaissance artist Giulio Romano in a projected photograph of the Vatican Library. Political expression through photography can be seen in Nigel Rolfe’s triptych, Blood of the Beast, while Michael Peel interrogates the medium of the photograph in works such as Some Myths of Black and White Photography.
An exhibition guide accompanies the exhibition (price €3.00).
The exhibition is sponsored by Meritec Presentation Products, Ireland’s Dedicated Hitachi Distributors.
