To celebrate its tenth year, the Museum is showing some of the major asquisitions made to its Collection, which has grown from 41 to 2,100 artworks during the last decade.

The exhibition draws together some of the most popular works in the Collection, such as the classic Gilbert and George, ‘Smoke Rising’, Damien Hirst’s ‘Acquired Inability to Escape’ and works from the Gordon Lambert Collection such as Barrie Cooke’s ‘Megaceros Hibernicus’ and Victor Vasarely’s Permutation Series. ‘Strongbow’ by James Coleman, which was shown as part of the opening exhibition at the Museum, is shown in a new form along with the most recently purchased installation ‘Where do Broken Hearts Go’ by Dapne Wright and ‘Sacha and Mum’, by the 1997 Turner Prize winner Gillian Wearing. Also on display is the installation, ‘Open Season’, based on the subject of domestic violence, made by women from the Family Resource Centre, St Michael’s Estate, Inchicore. The Musgrave Kinley Outsider Art Collection, on loan to IMMA, is represented by Dusan Kusmic, Henry Darger and a monumental drawing by Chris Hipkiss.

A number of artworks are being installed in the grounds to join ‘The Drummer’ by Barry Flannagan, recently donated by the artist; Laurence Weiner’s ‘Sticks and Stones’ and Michael Warren’s ‘Beneath the Bow’, which was commissioned for the opening of the Museum.
