Join us this September for a closing event to celebrate An Dún, 2024, a multi-narrative environment by Array Collective commissioned by IMMA for the major museum wide exhibition Self Determination: A Global Perspective, as part of the The Decade of Centenaries.
Across immersive spaces in the Courtyard Galleries, An Dún unearths a complicated and messy understanding of statehood and citizenship. Ideological, topographical and political plans are fashioned and accumulated inside a site of destruction and construction. Resting outside of time, we hear echoes of our past, present and future in ever-changing failed experiments of hope.
An Dún Screenings/ 2.30pm – 4.30pm
Location: Lecture room
Array Collective presents the An Dún screenings. Acting as an extension of the exhibition in the Courtyard Galleries the screening will interweave archive to draw out narratives within their installation. These video works created in collaboration with Northern Ireland Screen’s Digital Film Archive will be screened on a loop in the lecture theatre.
About the archive: Launched in November 2000, Northern Ireland Screen’s Digital Film Archive (DFA) is a free public access resource containing over 1000 hours of footage connected to the north of Ireland from 1897 to 2024. The DFA aims to safeguard our screen culture for future generations, whilst dedicated outreach and learning programmes ensure that the public value of materials can be realised by audiences today. You can watch the archive online here.
