Moderated by invited curator Elaine Hoey and previous winner of the RDS Visual Art Award, this talk gives audiences the chance to hear from five individual artists selected for the RDS Visual Art Awards 2023. Participating artists include: Taïm Hemet, Oisín Tozer, Nikolas Ryan, Jinny Ly, and Laura Grisard.

In a series of short artists’ talks, we hear from the individual artists about the specifics of their work. We invite each artist to introduce their practice, themes and influences, and share their experiences of presenting work for the first time in the galleries at IMMA. A discussion follows where our artist panel reflect on the importance and mutual benefits for visual arts community and audience, to have access and exposure to the work of emerging visual artists in Ireland. The session provides a mix of presentations and conversation on best practice and some group discussion on examples of how artists realised their graduate work and exhibition proposals for IMMA.

This talk is for anyone moving into early professional visual art practice, such as BA & MA students, recent graduates, and emerging contemporary artists and curators interested in hearing more about the opportunities of The RDS Visual Art Awards. All are welcome.
