Knut Åsdam uses a variety of media, from sound and video, to photography and architecture, to investigate the notion of physical space. Åsdam’s first exhibition in Ireland features two film-works, ‘Cluster Praxis’, 2000, and a new work ‘Filter City’, 2003, which was first seen in the Istanbul Biennial, 2003. His films demonstrate how the architecture of the city can embody themes derived from contemporary life. An insight into the impact of the architecture of such cities as New York, London and Stockholm is presented in this exhibition.
A publication, with an essay by Rachel Thomas, Curator: Exhibitions, IMMA, accompanies the exhibition.
