This exhibition, Prendergast’s first solo museum show in Ireland, examines her practice from 1992 to 1999, taking ‘City Drawings’ as its starting point. This ongoing project transcribes in pencil the anatomy of every capital city in the world. The exhibition also includes 14 other large and small-scale sculptures, installations and drawings made over the same period.
Born in Dublin in 1958, Prendergast is widely regarded as one of the leading Irish artists of her generation. In 1995 she was awarded the prestigious Premio 2000 prize at the Venice Biennale. She lives and works in London. The exhibition is accompanied by a fully-illustrated 120 page catalogue, published by IMMA in association with Merrell Publishers, with an essay by writer and lecturer Francis McKee, (Price IRP19.95). An exhibition guide is also available (Price IRP2.00)
