Following on from last year’s successful event, we are delighted to deliver another inspiring and fun-filled International Women’s Day. We have a variety of activities for you to enjoy such as a biodiversity walk through our magnificent formal gardens, a studio workshop where you will learn how to make Oak Gall ink and the history of this ancient process, and later in the afternoon a guided tour of the exhibition at IMMA Self-Determination: A Global Perspective. This very enjoyable event will begin and conclude with some mindful exercises.
All tours and workshops will be facilitated by members of the IMMA’s Visitor Engagement Team. The day will begin with a biodiversity walk through the Ornamental Gardens with Sandra Murphy, an amateur wildlife photographer. This will be followed by a studio workshop where Brigid Mc Clean, who is an artist, will be giving a demonstration on how to make natural Oak Gall ink and will share with the participants the history of this ancient ink making process. Materials will be provided for participants to explore and experiment during the workshop.
The afternoon’s events will conclude with a guided tour by Patricia Brennan of the exhibition at IMMA Self-Determination: A Global Perspective. This exhibition brings together a range of Irish and international works, both modern and contemporary. Paola Catzione, yoga practitioner, will provide some relaxing mindful exercises at the start and end of the day.
Meeting point: Main Reception.
This event is free to attend. Tea and coffee will be provided.
