We are delighted to host two workshops with textile artist Helen Garvey, who is an expert in repair and reuse. To begin, participants will explore the exhibition The Narrow Gate of the Here and Now, Social Fabric with Helen and Joan Walker from IMMA’s Visitor Engagement Team. This exhibition features pieces of textile art and provides a thought-provoking discussion on fabric consumption and care.
During the workshops we will look at ways to mend or enhance a piece of clothing or fabric. If you have an item that you wish to repair, this is a good time to bring it along and get started.
These workshops will take place over two mornings, places are limited. All materials will be provided.
Remember to wear the correct clothing and footwear as the workshop will take place outdoor and will involve some walking over uneven surfaces.
