Paintings and Drawings of the Human Body 1984-1998
This exhibition of paintings and drawings by the British-born painter Hughie O’Donoghue, is his first exhibition on this scale in Ireland. Corp, selected in close collaboration with the artist, comprises 25 works created over 15 years. All portray the human body, a key element in Hughie O’Donoghue’s work. The relationship between the languages of painting and drawing, which is central to his practice, is also explored. O’Donoghue has worked with large-scale drawings throughout his career and the exhibition includes a recent 7 metre long charcoal and graphite drawing Crossing the Rapido.

Born in Manchester in 1953, O’Donoghue is represented in important public collections such as the National Gallery, London, the Whitworth Art Gallery, Manchester, and the Arts Council of England. He participated in the Irish Museum of Modern Art’s Studio Programme in 1996, when he lead masterclasses in drawing.

A fully-illustrated catalogue, with an essay by the artist, accompanies the exhibition. Price £12.00.
