Fremantle Arts Centre (FAC) is a creative campus committed to fostering a community of innovation and inspiration, collaboration and curiosity, risk taking and rigour. It is both a cultural and a learning precinct situated in Walyalup (Fremantle) on Whadjuk Nyoongar Boodjar in the centre of a city celebrated for its innovation, culture and creativity, shaped by the many communities who call it home.
Spread over a four-acre site and housed in a gothic heritage building, FAC’s annual programme includes contemporary visual arts exhibitions and a diverse range of multidisciplinary performance, music and discourse.
This partnership connects with FAC’s unique residency programme which supports 9 working studio spaces available for residencies as well as a residential apartment for visiting interstate and overseas artists. The highly regarded studio programme attracts artists from around the world and encourages the development of artistic practice through sited practice based research.
FAC’s commitment to supporting local artists is at the heart of all the centre’s programming and activities. This open call offers an Irish artist or an Ireland-based artist the opportunity of full immersion into this unique cultural context and location through living and working in this port city in Western Australia that’s part of the Perth metropolitan area.
IMMA’s partnership with Fremantle Arts Centre is delighted to reciprocally host a Western Australia based artist from early October through until mid December 2024.
