Explore print-making during a studio workshop and enjoy a guided tour of the exhibition IMMA Collection: Freud Project, Gaze. IMMA guided tours for primary schools are focussing on this exhibition until May 2019.

Artist Rachel Tynan will lead this practical workshop during which primary teachers will discover multiple links to the visual art curriculum.

This workshop is free but booking is essential. Places are limited and booking is on a first come, first served basis.

You don’t need any prior knowledge or experience of art-making.. Warm but practical clothing is recommended due to working in studios and using art materials

If you are a primary teacher art, this is a great opportunity to:

  • Enjoy the historic setting of the Royal Hospital Kilmainham;
  • Explore a current art exhibition at IMMA;
  • Experience an engaging introduction to creative processes and materials in the company of a contemporary artist.

A second CPD workshop will be held on Saturday 2 March 2019. Join the IMMA primary school teacher mailing list for information on this and other upcoming events.

About the Artist

Lucian Freud, 1922–2011

Lucian Freud (1922-2011) was one of the greatest realist painters of the 20th century. Renowned for his portrayal of the human form, Freud is best known for his intimate, honest, often visceral portraits. Working only from life Freud’s studio was intensely private and he mainly worked with those he was close to, often asking subjects to sit for hundreds of hours over multiple sittings to better capture the essence of their personality.
