IMMA is delighted to be part of Culture Date with Dublin 8, a neighbourhood initiative celebrating the cultural and historical life of Dublin 8. Through a host of free family friendly activities Culture Date with Dublin 8 aims to encourage people to explore what is on their doorstep.
IMMA’s programme for the weekend includes exclusive guided tours of the exhibitions Doris Salcedo, Acts of Mourning and the IMMA Collection, Freud Project, Gaze, seven exhibitions to visit including free entry into Gaze, family workshop, a self-guided art trail and children’s activity packs.
All events are free and will take place in the Kilmainham and Inchicore district which includes IMMA, The Phoenix Park, The Irish National War Memorial Gardens, Kilmainham Gaol, Richmond Barracks and Goldenbridge Cemetery. There are two flagship events – The Irish National War Memorial Family Fun Day and an outdoor Concert in Goldenbridge Cemetery.

Gaze continues to actively explore Freud’s practice by positioning his works alongside those of other artists from the IMMA Collection. |

Doris Salcedo (b. 1958, Colombia), is one of the world’s leading sculptors whose work is deeply rooted in her native Colombia. This is her first solo exhibition in Ireland and reflects Salcedo’s continued focus on the experience of mourning and the connections between, violence, anonymity and public space. |
