Are you living with dementia or do you know someone who is? Why not come along to IMMA and experience our next dementia-inclusive Azure tour. These tours are tailored towards people living with dementia and their families and friends and are facilitated by IMMA staff members who are trained in providing art tours for people with dementia.

The next tour takes place on Friday 6 March at 11.00am. Join Bairbre Ann Harkin, IMMA’s Art & Ageing Curator, and explore selected work from The Freud Project: The Artist’s Studio. We will meet at IMMA’s Freud Centre. The Freud Centre is a stand-alone building adjacent to the gardens, located to the right at the top of the driveway from the entrance on Military Road. Seating will be provided for all participants throughout the tour. After the tour, we finish with an optional complimentary tea or coffee and a chat in IMMA’s Kemp Sisters Café.

Guests are also more than welcome to come along to the tour as a ‘drop-in’ attendees – just meet us at the time/date mentioned above.

We also offer free, book-able AZURE tours to dementia care facilities or dementia support organisations who wish to bring groups to visit IMMA. A tour can be specially arranged by contacting Margaret via email [email protected] or call 01 612 9955.

About the Artist

Lucian Freud, 1922–2011

Lucian Freud (1922-2011) was one of the greatest realist painters of the 20th century. Renowned for his portrayal of the human form, Freud is best known for his intimate, honest, often visceral portraits. Working only from life Freud’s studio was intensely private and he mainly worked with those he was close to, often asking subjects to sit for hundreds of hours over multiple sittings to better capture the essence of their personality.
