Artformations is an exhibition based on three different projects undertaken by the Museum with teachers, artists, and children. The exhibition is organised by the Museum’s Education and Community Department as part of its remit of engaging with the primary school sector. The results from recent projects including, Breaking the Cycle and Creativity in the Classroom – both co-funded by the Department of Education and Science – and a collaboration between IMMA, the Abbey Theatre and the Arts Council are being shown. Included in the exhibition is artwork created by schoolchildren in response to recent exhibitions at IMMA, which is shown alongside work by children from local schools where artists have been working with teachers to bring the visual arts curriculum to life.
A review of the IMMA/Breaking the Cycle initiative, carried out by Eibhlin Campbell and Anne Gallagher, entitled Red Lines Between My Fingers is available (price €18.00).
