Performance & Feminist Approaches in the IMMA Collection
with Johanne Mullan
Wed 29 Oct, 1.15 - 2pm

How have artists used performance and feminist strategies to disrupt conventions and reimagine the body, politics, and identity? In this talk, Johanne Mullan, Curator, IMMA Collection, takes us through a selection of groundbreaking works presented as part of the exhibition Art as Agency.

Focusing on the work of artists who challenge the role of art in society, Johanne highlights Performance & Feminist Approaches that blur the line between personal and political, questioning the visibility of women’s voices and the possibilities of live action performance works, as a medium for resistance and renewal with a museum’s collection. Collection artists whose work will be explored include Vivienne Dick, Alanna O’Kelly, WAAG (Women Artists Action Group) and Patricia Hurl.
