The event will be recorded and published to the IMMA Soundcloud in the coming weeks

Date: Tuesday 15 August, 1pm
Venue: Johnston Suite, IMMA

We are thrilled to announce that renowned Artist and Director Alejandro Jodorowsky (Holy Mountain, El Topo, Santa Sangre) will join Rachael Thomas, Head of Exhibitions, IMMA for a conversation in IMMA next week. They will talk about the ongoing importance and influence of the tarot, spirituality, love and the occult in Jodorowsky’s legendary multidisciplinary practice.

Considered by many one of the most accomplished artists and cinema directors of our time, Jodorowsky is an artist, film director, actor, writer, poet and a recognised Master of the Tarot. The drive behind his philosophy is that art can heal spiritually and psychologically and Jodorowsky will discuss the potential of the tarot as a visual language to activate a deep psychological search that can awaken our consciousness. Some of Jodorowsky’s most iconic avant-garde films, Pyschomagic collective workshops and collaborative art projects have been featured in IMMA’s current exhibition programme for group show ‘As Above, So Below: Portals, Visions, Spirits & Mystics’. His work can be seen in a visual art context in-gallery, and his films have been screened in partnership with the IFI for the As Above, So Below Film series earlier this year.

This talk has been programmed as part of the IMMA: As Above, So Below – Talk Series which explores the role of spirituality and transcendence in our contemporary lives. It is presented in association with the Irish Film Institute (IFI)

Please note that entry to the exhibition As Above, So Below is free of charge on Tuesdays, and the galleries open from 11.30am. The exhibition closes on Sunday 27 August 2017.
