A project in process by Patricia Villanueva
(Featuring: Irish artist Linda Quinlan)
"So I thought… how different can a Peruvian artist and an Irish
artist really be?
So I decided to find out if my Doppelgänger could be in fact, Irish.
Her name is Linda Quinlan."
This project deals with the idea that we all have a double that walks the earth. A Double Walker. The myth says that we all have an alter ego somewhere, and that it would cause a catastrophe if both beings were to be in the same place, face to face.
Both artists, Peruvian and Irish, are going through a series of tests and questionnaires, that will give, through a series of percentages, statistics and data, ideas of how similar these two women are.
It is an exercise on personality and the double danger of knowing that you are not that unique or special after all. Can two personalities, too alike, be in the same space without causing a commotion?
Patricia Villanueva’s residency is kindly supported by the UNESCO/Aschberg bursaries for artists.
