About the Artist

Angus Fairhurst, 1966–2008

English artist Angus Fairhurst attended Goldsmiths College in the 1980s and was among the generation of British artists that came to be known as the YBA’s (Young British Artists). Fairhurst worked in photography, video and painting but is best known for his bronze gorilla sculptures. In 1988 he was one of 16 students to take part in the exhibition Freeze, organised by Damien Hirst, He went on to collaborate with Damien Hirst and Sarah Lucas on many projects.
