    Thomas Schütte, b.1954

    German sculptor and draughtsman Thomas Schütte studied at the Kunstakademie, Düsseldorf. His early interest in architectural modelling led on to a consideration of the body, the human condition, and the place of the artist in society. He received the Golden Lion at the Venice Biennale in 2005 and the Düsseldorf prize in 2010. Schütte’s work has been the subject of solo exhibitions at the Serpentine Gallery, London; K21 Städehaus, Düsseldorf, and Peter Freeman, Inc., New York.
